GMnext: Driving the future
Even in the mists of the distant past, General Motors (GM) was dreaming of the future. Right from our very first day as a carmaker, on September 16, 1908, the vision was there, as was the goal to shape the future of car design and production.

And now 100 years later, as we celebrate our centennial, GM stays true to these grand designs and continues to drive the automotive industry to produce cars that inspire the next generation of drivers.

GMnext is all about our future, our present and our past. It is the overriding theme for centennial celebrations that bring together this heritage with our outlook for the future.

A time to celebrate
During the year, a series of activities, events and initiatives under the collective banner of GMnext will take place around the world and in the Middle East to celebrate this anniversary and to showcase GM’s accomplishments and vision for the future.

An exciting future

From growth in emerging markets to technology development, GM’s progress is strong and growing apace. We are always listening to the needs of our customers and re-inventing the automobile. You shape our cars and technologies as much as they affect you. GMnext gives you the forum to share your opinion and to learn more about the ways in which we’re responding.

We will celebrate our heritage and future in five key areas:
As we are driven by design, our engineers and designers are passionate about making cars that people want to drive – cars with evocative, compelling designs that inspire people and complement their individuality. Take the Corvette, for example, which ever since it was launched back in 1953, has represented a glimpse into the automotive future. Today, concepts such as the Cadillac Provoq and HUMMER HX continue that tradition.

With its green vision, GM is moving to offer the broadest possible range of advanced propulsion systems, understanding that consumers globally are demanding environmentally friendly automobiles. In the Middle East, we are working with government organizations like the Dubai Roads and Transport Authority to introduce hybrid technology. In 2008, we will bring the Chevrolet Tahoe and Malibu Hybrids, to the region – Another first for GM in the Middle East.

Also, we continue to focus on new ideas to address transportation trends at the same time as we develop new technology and innovations that will address the needs of the global market, both present and future.

As a company with more than a quarter – million employees, GM has an opportunity to change lives on a global scale. This reach allows us to make a positive impact on the world around us; giving something back to the communities we interact with in areas such as education and safety.

GM has been operating in the Middle East for over 80 years and today more than 7500 people work for the company and its dealers.

Be part of GMnext
We have marked our centenary by launching a global dialogue on key issues, including energy, the environment and globalization via a new online community called GMnext Wiki feature is a fascinating online history of the company, with first-hand accounts from past and present employees and customers. In time, we will have created a digital storybook with personal recollections, anecdotes, photos, audio files and videos.
